DeepRanjani Foundation is a response to the question of every young adult with special needs and the agony of living a life without a purpose. While being on my academic journey, working around people of special needs across the ages and their parents, I realised, the pain, the struggles, the aspirations, the dreams of these people are not reflected in academia. Hence, the rigorous attempt to make sense of these unique, yet cumulative experiences brought me to my brainchild, DeepRanjani Foundation. DeepRanjani  addresses one of the least worked areas around Special Needs in our country, i.e., vocational rehabilitation, employment generation and independent living. We at DeepRanjani believe that righteous  opportunities of livelihoods and equal exchanges of respect are necessary for rehabilitation. We wanted to go above and beyond the charity modus operandi for Individuals with Special Needs and build an ecosystem that is fair, equitable and self-sustaining. Thus, the model of vocational training in collaboration with industry leaders, followed by internship, extensive work behavior training and supported employment to open employment, creating various sellable final products and inclusion of Special Needs in mainstream spaces which only catered to neurotypical population and at max people with visible disabilities was envisioned so far. A very competent team of 50+ professionals have put in their heart and soul’s effort to turn that vision into reality.

We are further stepping into the realm of residential care, one with technology enabled infrastructures, primary focus on safety and hygiene, along with state of the art special needs management facilities, that caters to independence of individuals and peace of mind of their families. The dearth of homes for girls/women in our country, the access to safety for a child with special needs from economically challenged families won’t be just a dream to nurture, but a reality to build brick by brick through this initiative.

An organisation at a nascent stage, yet a very exciting and challenging journey that DeepRanjani has chosen for herself. We are learning, re-evaluating, re-focusing and re-planning, while the simple focus remains the same, that is, Empowerment, Inclusion and Autonomy of individuals with special needs and their families. Acknowledging that Diversity is organic, challenges are realistic, we move on from the sense of superiority of being called neurotypicals towards True Inclusion, looking forward to a day when a special needs child will be known only by her name and not by her special needs anymore.
